At Maleny Vet Services, we’re a close-knit team who care deeply about the animals we see, as well as the people who care for them.
Our grooming service has grown into a busy and much-loved part of the practice. Thanks to the care and consistency of our existing Grooming Technician, we now have a strong, loyal client base, and more demand than we can currently meet.
We’re looking for an experienced Grooming Technician to join the team and help us expand our grooming availability across more days each week.
About the role
This is a hands-on grooming role within a veterinary clinic, working in a dedicated grooming space alongside a supportive team.
Our grooming service is currently run three days per week, and we’re looking to expand this to meet demand. You’ll be working independently on your rostered days, rather than alongside another groomer.
Typical days will be Mondays and/or Fridays, with the option of occasional Saturday mornings as demand requires, plus leave cover for our existing Grooming Technician.
You’ll be working with a steady flow of patients – from well-maintained regulars to new and visiting dogs needing a little more time and care.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Bathing, drying, brushing and clipping dogs
- Nail trims, ear cleaning and general hygiene care
- Confident handling of a range of temperaments
- Maintaining a clean and organised grooming area
- Working efficiently to keep appointments running on time
Who we’re looking for
We’re ideally looking for someone who can step in with confidence and comfortably manage a full day of grooming on their own.
You’ll bring:
- Proven, hands-on grooming experience (essential)
- The ability to work independently and stay on schedule
- Strong, calm animal handling skills
- A practical, reliable approach to a busy day
- A friendly, down-to-earth manner with both clients and the team
Formal qualifications are desired, but not essential – experience, safety and capability are what matter most.
Please note: this is not a junior or trainee position – applicants should be confident managing a full grooming list independently.
Candidates must have Australian work rights to be eligible for this position.
Why join us?
- Join a well-established and growing grooming service
- Dedicated grooming room within a veterinary practice
- Loyal client base and consistent workflow
- Support from an experienced wider team
- A workplace that values doing things properly
A note on the role
Our grooming days are busy and hands-on. This role suits someone who enjoys working steadily, takes pride in their work and is comfortable managing a varied caseload of dogs independently.
