Practical veterinary support for productive herds.

At Maleny Veterinary Services, we work alongside primary producers throughout the hinterland and beyond. We understand that herd health decisions affect productivity, genetics and long-term business outcomes so our approach is collaborative, evidence-based and practical.

You know your cattle. We bring veterinary oversight, diagnostics and reproductive expertise to support your system.

Our cattle services

Herd health & production planning

Structured herd health reviews tailored to your enterprise. We assess disease risk, vaccination strategy, parasite management, trace elements, nutrition considerations and biosecurity – always aligned with your production goals.

On-farm consultations

Field-ready diagnostics and practical problem solving. From sick individuals to emerging herd trends, we investigate efficiently and recommend treatments that make sense on the ground.

Vaccination programs

Strategic vaccination planning based on regional disease risk and property history. We assist with 7-in-1, tick fever and other preventative protocols, ensuring timing and product selection are appropriate for your herd.

Reproductive services

Reproduction drives productivity. We provide:

  • Bull breeding soundness evaluations
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Calving support and advice

Clear results, practical interpretation, and forward planning.

Artificial insemination (AI) programs

We run structured AI programs for producers wanting to improve genetics, manage breeding windows or access superior sires.

AI allows you to:

  • Use different bulls across your herd
  • Access genetics from anywhere in the world
  • Reduce the need to maintain a bull on property

We offer both:

  • Natural heat detection AI
  • Synchronisation (programmed) mating programs

Our role is to design a program suited to your facilities, labour capacity and expectations — and to manage the technical components safely and efficiently.

For producers wanting a detailed breakdown of AI programs, timing protocols and expected success rates, see our dedicated Artificial Insemination page.

Emergency after-hours care

When urgent issues arise, we provide on-farm emergency veterinary support during business hours.

Subject to availability, Maleny Vet Services also provides an after-hours on-call service primarily for our regular clients, but our rostered vet may also be available to see other animals in the district depending on their case load on any given night.

If you have an animal that requires urgent care, please see our Emergency Care page.
